EXHIBITION: Jennifer Joiner, Drumbeat Bolero
From July 6 to 13, LVAC member Jennifer Joiner presents Drumbeat Bolero, a solo art exhibition and installation at the LVAC Gallery at 115 Birmingham Street. She writes:
Ravel’s Bolero suggests an intensity touching the irrational. The installations include many found objects in builds and swirls of cloth, wood, ornament. Drumbeat is the incessant push for populations caught up in disorder, mayhem, dystopia, dying, with familiar norms converted to fragmented sensibility.

Co-ops for Community
We're happy to report that our June 1 Co-ops for Community event was a hit! The LVAC Gallery was packed with attendees from across South Etobicoke and well beyond, and we're especially grateful to MPP Lee Fairclough for spending the afternoon with us and Councillor Morley for the great video she made for the occasion.

Many thanks to the small army of volunteers from the South Etobicoke Co-op Housing Network, LAMP, and LVAC who made this amazing event happen, and especially to our lovely and talented event coordinator Jane Wells!
CHF Canada 2025 Annual Meeting
Finally, a few photos from the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada's Annual Meeting this weekend, which was held right here in Etobicoke. Lilian Radovac attended as LVAC's delegate, along with representatives of hundreds of other housing co-ops across Canada—and Mayor Olivia Chow!
From the Mayor's remarks:
Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges we face. [. . .] The City of Toronto is committed to strengthening co-op and non-profit housing as part of our broader effort to make the city more affordable for everyone. We are investing in deeply affordable homes, supporting co-ops through capacity-building, preservation and expansion efforts and working with all levels of government to grow the sector.
That makes it official: co-ops are back! 🙌
