I’m sad to share news of the death of Marshall Gaskin, who passed away in his studio last week. Marshall was a wildly gifted artist, sculptor, and storyteller and one of LVAC’s earliest members, which won him a CHFT Century of Co-operation award in 2023.
The co-op is in touch with his loved ones and will share details of a memorial when they become available.
For now, some photos of Marshall from our 30th anniversary celebration in September, at which he regaled attendees with stories about his life as a Black and disabled artist and about how he came to live at LVAC. I’m glad to have had this chance to get to know him and know how much he'll be missed.
