Speaking of awards. . .

LVAC is in excellent company! Arcadia Housing Co-op won CHFT's 50th Anniversary Video Contest for this five-minute video they created about their home, the first artists' co-op in Canada. It's full of great ideas for community engagement and well worth the watch at the YouTube link below.

Congratulations, River Clyde Arts!

Last month, we reported that River Clyde Arts and its co-director Jane Wells had been nominated for a P.E.I. Arts Award for Organization of the Year. We couldn't be happier to share that River Clyde has since won that award, which it received at the 2024 P.E.I. Arts Awards ceremony. Congratulations to Jane and her collaborators!

Toronto artists feeling the housing crunch

Despite contributing an annual $12 billion to Toronto's economy, artists are still being priced out of the city. A new CBC News article reports that just five (yes, 5) new affordable units for artists at Riverdale Co-op received "hundreds and hundreds" of applications. The piece includes comment from LVAC's vice-president (and LVAC News editor) Lilian Radovac and photography by regular contributor Larry Miller. You can read the full article by clicking on the image below—ou ici, en français.

Let's keep working together to increase awareness of what both artists and co-ops bring to this city. To quote Arcadia's video narration: We need more!
