Local Vocals in Our Story

Martingrove Collegiate Institute
Guest Artist: Local Vocals
Join the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra on Friday, November 21 at Martingrove Collegiate Institute—50 Winterton Drive, Etobicoke—for Our Story.
Come celebrate Etobicoke with us in this special collaboration with the Etobicoke Historical Society, featuring the Local Vocals pop-up choir and Etobian composers.
Artefacts on display will include a cannon ball from the War of 1812, so of course we'll play Tchaikovsky's thrilling 1812 Overture.
The jaunty Log Drivers Waltz, performed by Local Vocals, sets an upbeat tone that Etobian composer Gary Kulesha continues with his joyful Celebration Overture.
Did you know the world-famous pianist and composer Oscar Peterson was a Mimico resident? Hear his Hymn to Freedom, which inspired our full "docu-concert" coming February 1.
We also perform Mozart’s Paris Symphony (No. 31) and consider how young we are: this work was captivating Europe when Etobicoke was still Adobigok, nearly a decade before the Toronto Purchase from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
Visit the EPO website to learn more about the program and to purchase tickets.
