If you find yourself on Prince Edward Island this summer, tickets have just been released for The River Clyde Pageant, the central event of the River Clyde Arts season. This will be the first Pageant on River Clyde Arts' new long-term home in New Glasgow, PEI.

The River Clyde Pageant: A Light on the Rise is the tenth edition of this imaginative outdoor spectacle. Co-directed by Megan Stewart and LVAC's Jane Wells, this year's show is inspired by the collective movements of flocks and swarms, ancient patterns of plant and animal migrations, and the shifting responses these movements evoke. The show opens with a scene celebrating the Pageant’s own travels through the village of New Glasgow over the past decade. Audiences will then take a short journey through a grove of shady apple trees, coming to rest at the new performance site, where they will encounter a lively cast of creatures from human, animal and plant realms. The Pageant is an enchanting experience for all ages, sparking delight, contemplation and wonder.

Tickets are available for purchase on the River Clyde Arts website, below.

Application Deadline: July 13
Notification Date: July 31
Exhibition Dates: September 17–October 4
Location: Storefront windows along Queen Street West

Poster text reads: Pretty Vacant: A Storefront Art Thing, Parkdale Residents Association.

Parkdale Residents Association (PRA) invites proposals from visual and media artists to re-imagine and transform vacant storefront windows into gallery spaces, through site-specific installations, interventions, or in-situ creations that respond to the shifting landscape of Parkdale. Apply to info@parkdale.to, with the subject line Open Call.

What stories remain in the windows of once-busy spaces? Can art hold space in communities under pressure? Can joy be reclaimed in the face of loss? How do we create beauty in the overlooked corners of the city?

Works may explore themes such as:

  • Transition, gentrification, urban transformation or displacement
  • Community memory and resistance, care, and neighborhood solidarity
  • Urban ecology under pressure and nature’s response to a world in flux
  • Local histories, folklore, rumours, legends, and collective memory

PRA strongly encourages submissions from professional artists at all stages of practice—from emerging to established, collectives, and community members. Both new and existing works are welcome.

Visit the PRA website for full submission instructions.
